About Our Doors 

Are you affiliated with IKEA®?
We are not affiliated or associated with IKEA® or IKEA Canada® in any way. All Kitch doors and parts are 100% after-market and meant to accessorize IKEA® cabinet systems.  

Which cabinet systems do Kitch doors accessorize?
We make doors that fit the new SEKTION® kitchen systems and GODMORGON® bathroom vanities.  We also can fabricate for the older AKURUM® systems with a little help from you!

Can you copy their existing door styles?
No, their door styles are completely their own. We do not copy or match IKEA® doors, but rather offer more choice.

Do you offer Floating shelves?
We do! We offer 15 of our finishes, in 6 different lengths. They are 1-1/2” thick and 10” deep and come 12-24-36-48-60-72” Long. Using a solid plywood cleat, you can adhere this pretty much anywhere! Drop us a line for a full offering sheet.

What are Kitch doors made of? 
We have a range of doors. Veneer slab doors comprise of a thin layer of real wood that is applied to both sides of a 3/4" core. MDF, or PBC are the most commonly used cores, and both cores we use have a density twice that of IKEA® doors. That's why it's the standard substrate for kitchen cabinet doors. Our Gloss range is an Acrylic layer applied to an HDF core, 2 sided. Supermatte doors also have an HDF or PBC core. For more specifics, please consult our materials page.

How do the edges on your doors come?
Kitch veneer doors and components have 1.5 mm(1/16") thick matching veneer edge-banding. Gloss and matte doors have 1.3mm zero joint ABS edging (where available). MDF Slab doors have a 1.5mm radius edge profile. This provides for easier application of paint.

What do you mean by "sequence-matched"?
"Sequence-matching" only refers to Kitch Domestic Veneer (DWV as seen on your estimate) doors. To accomplish that, all the veneers for your particular room can come from the same tree with the grain matched per elevation to provide a repetitive pattern. All the door and drawer parts are then cut in "sequence" so that each piece cascades into the next and fits together like a puzzle. For exceptionally large rooms, more than one sequence may be used, but we're always careful to choose veneers with similar grain patterns and colouring.  
Please note: 1) While our veneers do have repetitive book-matching patterns on them, we do not offer the traditional definition of "book-matched veneers" in which each door and drawer face has the book-matching centred on it. While stunning visually, that is a much more expensive process and involves tremendous waste. 2) Panels, trim, filler and toe kick do not run in sequence, although they do come from the same veneer "batch" as the doors and drawer faces to ensure similar grain-pattern and colouring.

Do you offer glass doors? 
Yes, We can offer a frame in all of our shaker door styles, with the exception of the slim shaker.

What type of finish do you offer for your wood doors?                                                                             
We use a two-part hardwax oil that is hand applied. It contains zero VOC’s and has superior wear and liquid resistance. . 

How do I care for my doors? 
Use a damp cloth with a mild, non-abrasive soap to clean your cabinets and dry immediately with a microfibre cloth. Never leave any water standing on cabinet surfaces. A gentle window cleaner works wonders on glass surfaces. Be sure to buff it with a clean microfibre cloth.

Do you make doors that fit IKEA's® recently discontinued AKURUM kitchen system?
We can! with a little help from you.

Do all your fronts come in the sizes that they offer? 
Yes, we make all standard sizes that they offer. We have also created 25”,35” 80” and 90" doors, as well as come special widths to achieve that tailored look!

Is everything drilled to accept their hardware? 
Yes, all doors and drawer fronts are drilled to match BLUM specifications. We also offer an integrated softclose hinge for the SEKTION fronts. A press-in bumper is also included (and installed here) so you don't have to deal with those pesky stick-on bumpers that inevitably fall off! 

How does your toe kick attach to their legs?
In most situations our clients will screw the leg clip to the back of our tow kick. We can also recommend you purchase a length of the FÖRBÄTTRA toe kick and fasten it to the back of our kick. Simply cut the FÖRBÄTTRA into 4" lengths and slide the IKEA® clip into the groove. Some people also opt to make a plinth or base, rather than use the legs provided. In this case, some adhesive and/or brad nails hidden up high would suffice. 

Do you offer dishwasher, refrigerator and other custom-sized appliance panels? 
We do. We’ll send you a panel form for this application. Please note: all panels are made to your sizes, read and follow the manufacturer dimensions carefully. The machine holes for the attachment of the panel to the particular appliance is entirely the responsibility of the customer or installer.

If we've picked out door handles/drawer pulls we like, will you drill the holes for them?
Unfortunately, no. Decorative hardware drilling is best done on-site.

Do you offer base, wall and tall panels?
We do! For more information on availability please contact one of our Kitch Advisors.

Any major differences between Kitch parts and theirs?
The biggest difference is our panels are 3/4" thick, and theirs are 1/2" and 5/8." Our applied panels are banded on all four sides, giving you some options as well.  Our door fillers are also made to fit the height of your cabinet.



Ordering & Design Options for your Doors

Can I design my kitchen by myself?
Please do! Click here for the free IKEA® Kitchen Planner. Once your design is complete, contact us and we can provide you with an estimate. 

Can I work with other design programs or an architect? 
Please follow all the IKEA® frame sizes and front sizes. All dimensions are required when you provide us with your design plans. 

If I modify a cabinet, can you make me a custom door/drawer size?
At this time we offer doors for a 33” fridge upper cabinet (modified from 36”). Other than that, you would need to cut down one of our standard doors.

My layout is complete, what's next? 
Once your layout is complete, Contact us and we’ll respond with a few questions within 1-2 days, From their it is assigned to one of our Kitch advisors to work with you on the estimate. Once we receive your PDF plans, we’ll take the time to mark those up, to align with our estimate, and make the review process as simple as possible. This does take time so bear with us! Note: please send the entire design in PDF(with all kitchen views) not just an itemized list of parts.

What is the lead-time on orders?   
Our lead time is 3-5 weeks once your order is confirmed and payment is collected. Fenix and Shaker-style doors have an additional 1 week lead time.

How much is shipping? 
Shipping can vary depending on size, weight and location of your order. The average price for shipping in Canada ranges from $99-$699. Our US Customers are looking at $499-1499.00. We also offer pick-up at our Edmonton, AB. studio.

What payment options do you offer?
We accept Visa®, MasterCard® and Apple Pay®. You will receive our order invoice via email, and you can click to pay.

Will there be sales tax on my order? 
In Canada you are charged the sales tax of the province you live in. 

What if I need to change my order?
We understand that design/construction changes often occur, sometimes even after an order is placed. Our clients are allotted 24 hours (from receipt of deposit) to make changes on regular orders. There is a minimum $50 Change Request Fee per revision, which is applied to the remaining balance. 
Any requests for revisions after this period will simply be added as a new order. The existing parts will be your property and can be used for additional fillers if need be. As we are a made-to-order business there are no refunds or exchanges.



Kitch Shipping & Warranty

Where do you ship?
We ship anywhere in the contiguous US and Canadian provinces/territories.

How is my order shipped?
All doors are shipped via courier or LTL (a private shipper with less than a truckload), with the option to insure the order. Your product advisor can let you know at time of shipping the cost associated.

Can I pick up my order? 
Yes, customers are more than welcome to pick up their orders from the Kitch store in Edmonton, Alta.

Is there a size limit to what you ship?   
To prevent damage, the maximum length of any Kitch piece we ship is 96". If your order exceeds 600lbs it may be broken into multiple skids or pallets.

What if I want to cancel my order? 
We allow clients a 24 hour window to cancel their order, but the client is responsible for any credit card processing fees.

What if something arrives damaged? 
The only thing more important than getting your order right is making sure it arrives in mint condition. To that end, we take great care in packing everything. We ask that all customers check their delivery upon arrival and notify us of any problems within three (3) business days. Documenting damage is vital, so please take photos and save all packing material.

Please note: all damage claims are void if not made to Kitch within three (3) business days of delivery.

What is the Kitch warranty on doors? 
Kitch offers a limited 10-year warranty against manufacturer-related defects for the Colour and Textured lines.  The Veneer and Classic wood has a two year limited warranty. MDF doesn't carry warranty, but we offer a 50% discount for replacement parts. Everyday occurrences like heat exposure, water damage, scratches and fading are not included. 

Do you honour returns? 
Because Kitch doors are made-to-order — nothing is made until your order is processed. Therefore, we can't offer returns. However, we will fix any manufacturer-related imperfections if a claim is made within three (3) business days of arrival.
